Part 1 of 5 from the Duke's Opus:
"I'm gonna run the crap out of this race", Jamie thought following a particularly hard training session of eating cereal and coming up with reasons not to run that morning. Jamie and her friend Duke had signed up to run "The Santa Monica Christmas Classic" that year, a race that runs from Venice to Santa Monica in December. "I trained a whole bunch earlier this year" Jamie thought while taking a spoonful of cereal, "I'm still in peak physical condition". Munch, munch, munch. "This will be a cake walk". SLUUURRRP. "Ah!" Jamie said out loud as she finished the milk from her cereal bowl. "Captain Crunch, you're the best personal trainer there is." she waited a split second for the cartoon captain on the cereal box to answer her...he didn't. "He never does", thought Jamie.
